Raw Pad Thai

Raw Pad Thai

First of all, I would like to say thank you to everyone who has given words of support and to everyone who has ordered a zine so far.  (An extra special thanks to Kittee, without whom I would be far less organized in my tracking and shipping of orders.)  The response has been really flattering and I feel I’ve “met” so many mystery blog readers who have never commented.  AND excited lil ‘ol me has got her first review over on wannabeavegan’s blog (thanks again!).  I still have zines for sale, and you can get all your info here.

Raw Ratatouille

So, what’s all this talk of white bed sheets?  Well, as you can tell by the pictures I’m posting here, this food is surrounded by them.  I’ve never shot on a propless white background before, and it’s been a learning experience for me as part of a little side project I hope to tell you all about in the very near future.

Rawvioli

Rawvioli

As interesting as it is to play with light this way, I don’t know that I’d want to shoot dishes like this in the future (at least not for the blog).  I kinda like the contrast that you get from colored backgrounds and different textures, even if there is a way to make neutral on white look good (and I’m not saying I’ve necessarily done that!).  It’s been a stressful week, since these four sample images are the result of hours spent toiling in my friend’s kitchen while simultaneously cat-sitting.  And I’ve become sick again (with an added case of conjunctivitis aka pinkeye) on top of it all.

Raw Spinach Lasagne

You may notice, that all of these dishes are raw.  I ate all of them after shooting them and they were pretty darn delish for being made off-the-cuff.  So with these esoteric clues at hand, can you guess what’s going on? ::put on your pensive looks::

Once I’m back in top-notch shape and things settle down a little more on the zine front, I hope to be back with a vengeance!  I’m excited to make new recipes now that spring is finally here, and all the little green shoots are making me so happy to be outside again (without freezing).  Rhubarb, anyone?

I got my copy of “Swell” yesterday, hourrah! I am muy excited about it. And all this raw deliciousness…a raw zine in the works? These photos are really stunning – that lasagna and those raviolis…hummm!

Lovely raw dishes! Are you going to be working on a raw zine now too? That would be amazing!

I’m not a fan of white backrounds either. I like the textures and warmth different colors (expecially different washes of wood) give to my pictures.

The photos are stunning! That lasagna looks spectacular.

I got my copy of the zine, too, and everything sounds soooo good (and of course I’m already familiar with the kale and the sweet potato scones. . . YUMMMM!). Can’t wait to hear about the next project. (And hope that eye clears up soon!)

I wish i could get into you raw dishes. As in, I wish I could you know, GET INTO THEM. They look wonderful and just made my stomach growl as I lie lazily in bed with the laptop…

Oh man, those look so amazing! Perfect for all the hot weather over here. :P Is the next project raw-food centered? I could so get into that.

Cool. I just sent you a message about obtaining a copy! I’m so excited. And the bed sheet idea is great! I’ve been sad about no longer having white countertops because I prefer to shoot on a white background. Unfortunately, I don’t own white bedsheets. Guess I’ll be hitting up some flea markets for some cheap ones.

The lasagne looks amazing and I’m intrigued by the rawvioli!
